Citizen and Immigration Canada (CIC) started using a new online system in January 2015 to handle requests for permanent residency under some economic programmes. The name of this new system is “Express Entry.”
The goal of the Express Entry system is to speed up the time it takes to process applications so that CIC can find the best immigrants.
If you want to apply for permanent residency through one of these programmes:
Federal Skilled Worker Program
This program is looking for people with certain kinds of work experience and skills. To apply for this program, you must also plan to live somewhere other than Quebec. Read more about the Federal Skilled Worker Program here.
Canadian Experience Class
This program is looking for people who have worked in Canada legally and have the right skills and work experience. Read more about Canadian Experience Class here.
Federal Skilled Trades

for skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade
Some Provincial Nominee Programs in Particular
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has different streams and requirements for each province and territory. If you are chosen by one of these programmes, you may be able to use the Express Entry System to speed up the way your file is handled.
You will be able to use the new system for fast entry.
With the Express Entry System, the applicant must make an electronic profile of himself or herself and send it to CIC. ImmigCanada can guide you through this process and help you send in the best profile for you.
Then, CIC will compare your profile to those of other applicants and rank them. Your grade and ranking will be based on the following:
Language skills (English and/or French), education, work experience, and other things that have been shown to help newcomers do well in Canada.
Only the people with the best profiles would be asked to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
Note: Filling out an online Express Entry profile or getting into the pool does not guarantee that you will get an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.
The goal of the government is to process most requests for permanent residency in less than six months. (This time period starts when they get a complete application and ends when a final decision is made on your application for permanent residence.)
If your profile is one of the best and you are invited to apply for permanent residency, ImmigCanada will help you prepare this application and send it to CIC step by step.
